Prize-Winning COVID-19 Safety Video

In July 2020, San Diego State University partnered with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) to hold a contest of creating a public service announcement (PSA) video lasting 15 - 30 seconds long highlighting the importance of following the main safety measures to practice while enduring COVID-19's presence in history. In August 2020, JakeBryan was named one of the three contest winners for the PSA.

San Diego State University held a public service announcement contest to encourage students into participating by creating a 15 - 30 second video highlighting preventative measures against COVID-19. JakeBryan was one of three SDSU students to have won the contest from the creation of his video. He felt compelled to help promote proper safety guidelines to fight against the virus and encourage his peers to stay safe.

The videos shared were personally produced (with sub-par acting) and edited as videography creations for both educational assignments and a San Diego State University-based Public Service Announcement.

Social Fabric Initiative

Thread Lead Intern

At the University of San Diego with the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, JakeBryan held a position for a non-profit program, the Social Fabric Initiative, which presented his exposure to high school students who wanted to make a difference within the community. This position offered University-Level students the opportunity to guide these high school students into creating a social awareness project based on their respective topics.

 

JakeBryan was granted a wonderful opportunity to work with three diverse sets of groups that had the same prospective goal of helping their community and collaboratively spreading social awareness. The groups were strong-willed and determined to test their critical thinking in a business environment.

United States Navy – (CVN-70) USS Carl Vinson, Fleet Readiness Center South West (FRCSW)

Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class

JakeBryan has held a prestigious role in America’s greatest branch, the US Navy. From his initial tribute to service in 2010, JakeBryan was designated as an Aviation Ordnanceman, where his roles and responsibilities were of handling and servicing weapons and ammunition on naval aircraft. He was assigned to his first duty station in San Diego, CA, onboard the aircraft carrier, (CVN-70) USS Carl Vinson, where he had skillfully broadened his skillset as an Aviation Ordnanceman.

 

As a service member, countless duties were expected of you aside from your main occupational designation, offering room for intellectual advancement and adaptability. JakeBryan supplemented his technical skillset by ensuring the accountability he held for his role was at optimal performance through attention-to-detail. He was responsible for data-tracking maintenance schedules along with inventorying, servicing, troubleshooting, and administering maintenance to weapons and ammunition for aircraft. JakeBryan was able to promote to a supervisory role as an Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class, which allocated additional responsibility and accountability for him and his sailors.  In April 2017, JakeBryan decided to complete his service period with Fleet Readiness Center South West (FRCSW), where he can continue his pursuit toward advancing his personal goals and achievements.
